Alofagia: Le Opera
In association with Nathan Homestead, as part of their annual Summer Theatre in the Gardens programme, TAPA (Tautua Aiga of Performance Art) present Alofagia: Le Opera.
Alofagia: Le Opera is a multisensory experience, featuring the powerful voices of internationally-renowned tenor brothers, Pene and Amitai Pati, and their baritone cousin Moses Mackay – of Sol3 Mio. The trio will premiere an original composition by Poulima Salima this February, with guest artists and local community members.
Directed by award-winning Anapela Polata’ivao, choreographed by Tupua Tigafua, and with costume design by Lindah Lepou, Alofagia: Le Opera is a unique, new work that promotes Pacific creatives and aims to be a source of inspiration and encourage a sense of pride in the Pacific community.
“Alofagia: Le Opera is an uplifting theatre experience, drawing on ancient Samoan truths and echoing a time when Gods governed,” explains Polata’ivao. “It is a unique theatre event, traversing the realms of a re-imagined ancient Samoa, through a ceremony of pesepesega (singing), projection and movement.”
Show duration approx 90mins.
Tickets start at $12. Sets strictly limited. Book at eventfinda.
